Summer camp fun in Rossmere

Summer camp fun in Rossmere – June 26, 2019

Local children will enjoy a variety of activities this summer, thanks to provincial funding for programs operated by numerous area groups.

For more than 25 years Summer Camps for Kids has offered Monday to Friday programming for five to 12 year olds in the River East Transcona School Division. A summer of “low-tech high energy” week-long camps are run by high school and university students operating out of an area school. Week themes include superheroes, animals, space, sports, science and cartoons as well as other activities and outings. Summer Camps for Kids can be reached at 204-667-6193.

Another local organization funded by provincial grants this summer is River East Church (McLeod and Raleigh) which in tandem with neighbourhood-active Jubilee Church (Springfield and Raleigh), offers five weeks of day camps where kids make friends and gather around themed weeks which include “Olympic,” “Around the World” and “Art-rageous.” For more info please check the day camp tab at or call 204-663-5096.

The Province of Manitoba is also pleased to assist the Manitoba Camping Association ( at 1215 Henderson Hwy. which accredits 37 Manitoba camps across the province. This year the Manitoba Camping Association is on track to place 650 campers, up six per cent from last year. The government of Manitoba joins private sponsors and generous donors in helping the Manitoba Camping Association do its work. Reach them directly at 204-784-1130.

Last summer Green Team program grants employed more than 1,200 Manitobans, a number expected to be exceeded this year. Grant applications are typically posted in December and can be found at where an announcement is posted just before Christmas.
